Meet Raun

A Life Built on Service

Service has been the common thread throughout Rauns life. From serving in the United States Marine Corps to representing the people of Oregon as a prosecutor, protecting constitutional rights as a defense attorney, and building a law practice that serves those in need, his career has always been rooted in responsibility, integrity, and public service.

Today, he is asking for the opportunity to continue that commitment as a Judge for the Deschutes County Circuit Court.

Service Has Always Come First

Growing up in Oregon, Raun learned early the importance of hard work and personal responsibility. After high school, he chose to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps.

Four years of military service, including a deployment to Iraq, instilled the discipline, accountability, and leadership that continue to guide his approach to the law today.

Seeing Justice From Both Sides

After earning degrees in mathematics and law, Raun began his legal career as a prosecutor in Crook County before becoming Chief Deputy District Attorney.

Later, he chose to practice criminal defense and eventually founded Atlas Law Group, giving him experience representing clients from another perspective.

Few attorneys have spent meaningful time on both sides of the courtroom. That balanced experience has given Raun a deep appreciation for the importance of fairness, preparation, and impartial decision-making.

More Than an Attorney

While Raun has dedicated his career to the law, the roles he values most happen outside the courtroom.

He and his wife, Kilah, have built their life in Central Oregon, where they are raising their 13-year-old twins, Callie and Colben. Whether he's cheering from the sidelines, coaching his daughter's softball team, or spending time outdoors with his family and their Yorkshire Terrier, Addie, Raun appreciates the community they are proud to call home.

As the founder of Atlas Law Group, Raun also understands the responsibility that comes with owning and operating a local business. Leading a team, serving clients, and supporting employees has strengthened his appreciation for the people and businesses that make Central Oregon such a special place to live and work.

Family, community, and service have always shaped the way Raun approaches life. They are also the values that guide the way he practices law—and the way he hopes to serve as a judge.

The Kind of Judge He Strives to Be

Throughout his career, Raun has believed that professionalism matters.

One tradition has followed him through every jury trial he has handled: before the verdict is read, he shakes the hand of opposing counsel.

Win or lose, the courtroom deserves respect. The legal system works best when attorneys advocate passionately, judges remain impartial, and every person is treated with dignity.

That same philosophy is what Raun hopes to bring to the bench as Deschutes County Circuit Court Judge, Position 3.
